Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging obtains images from inside the human body using high frequency sound waves. The reflected sound wave echoes are converted into a visual image and displayed live on a screen. No radiation is involved in ultrasound imaging.

Ultrasound is useful for examining heart and blood vessels, abdominal organs, thyroid, breasts, testis and to guide biopsy and drainage procedures.

Doppler ultrasound is a special technique used to examine blood flow. Doppler images can help the physician to see and evaluate blockages to blood flow due to clots and plaques, or birth defects in blood vessels.
