Mammography

Mammography is a special X-ray system for examination of the breasts. The images of the breasts can be viewed on film at a view box or as a digital image on a computer screen.

Mammography plays an important part in early detection of breast cancers - important for successful treatment. It can show changes in the breast much before a patient or physician can feel the cancerous growth.

After mammography further diagnostic tests may be needed to confirm or rule out the presence of cancer.
