Intravenous Urogram

Intravenous Urogram (IVU) is an x-ray examination of the urinary system. In this contrast material - a substance containing iodine - is injected into the patient's blood stream to make the kidneys, ureters and bladder visible in the x-ray imageIVU is commonly used to find the cause of a wide variety of disorders such as blood in the urine and pain in the side or lower back. It enables the radiologist to detect problems within your urinary tract resulting from kidney stones, enlarged prostate or tumors in the kidney, ureters, or urinary bladder.
