Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology refers to a range of diagnostic and treatment procedures that are performed under the guidance of x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound or other imaging methods. The procedures most commonly performed are:

  • biopsies (take out tissue samples from diseased organs)
  • percutaneous drainage procedures (drain out fluid/pus collection)
  • embolization (blocking bleeding or abnormal blood vessels)
  • angioplasty (open blocked blood vessels)
