24 hours Accident & Emergency
The Accident & Emergency and Outpatient Department at Sabah Medical Centre are located at the ground floor to the left of the main entrance and have it own vehicles and ambulance road access. The road access is well marked. Entrance for casualty or patient is through automatic electrical body sensor door. The Accident & Emergency is conveniently located immediately adjacent to the radiology department so that imaging could be done within a short time with minimal inconvenience to the patient. In addition, it has a dedicated lift to the Helipad to the 9th floor. Casualty that arrives by helicopter can be in the Accident & Emergency room within less than 2 minutes after embarking.
Sabah Medical Centre Accident & Emergency Unit is well equipped to handle any accident and emergency situation on a 24 hours service. A Resident Medical Officer and his team of nurses are stationed 24 hours while Specialists can be called at any time. The Accident & Emergency unit is also within the code blue area where activation by pressing a blue button will summon via silent pager system teams of nurses and specialists to the point of activation within 30 seconds. It is equipped with 3 work stations complete with trauma work trolley, the latest bio-cardiac evaluation machines and intervention facilities. The Outpatient Unit is just next door to the Accident & Emergency Unit. It is open 24 hours and is service by 3 Resident medical officers and teams of nurses. It can handle many disease conditions operating a ‘GP services’ that do not require a ‘specialist’. However if needed be, or requested by the patient, he/she will be referred to a specialist. The outpatient unit has a computerised registration/tracking system and the patient need only to hand his or her national identity card (MyKad), a procedure room, a venepuncture room for blood taking and a comfortable waiting area. It is also within the code blue area. |
